Visited the Taste of Melbourne, a food and wine event last Sunday. This magnificently restored building is the Royal Exhibition Building set in Melbourne's Carlton Gardens - nowadays mainly used for exhibitions and public events.

On 9 May 1901, the Royal Exhibition Building hosted the opening of the first Australian Federal Parliament. Canberra came much later. World Heritage listing was achieved on 1 July 2004.
