Melbourne Cup Lineup #1

It's the first Tuesday in November. It's spring in Melbourne and that means, Spring Racing Carnival. And that means, the Melbourne Cup, a horse race. And that means, a 4 day long weekend for a 2 minute horse race! Pretty good, eh?

As you may recall from my posts at this time last year, the Melbourne Cup is an opportunity for adults to play dress-ups, officially, 'Fashions on the Field'. For the the women it's mainly hats, facinators and high heals. Oh, and a bit of fun was had by all.

This pic and the following were taken as folks arrived at the racecourse on a sunny/cloudy windy day.

BTW I was hoping that today's pic would be the first from my brand spanking new Canon 7D, that I bought 3 days ago. Well, the camera gods had some ideas of their own. Let's have some fun with Steve, they chuckled.

About 30 minutes into the morning, I lost about 70% of the Camera's functionality - all my settings froze, except for aperture and shutter speed in T mode, image review wouldn't work and nothing would appear on the screen. However, I could keep raking pictures, but without any playback whatsoever. When I got home, the pix all looked great, on the whole, better than my 40D. The fun was not over yet. PhotoShop wouldn't load a 7D pic, would it? It didn't recognise the file! Anyway, enough, I'm off to bed. ;-)
